Author Plum Johnson’s memoir “They Left Us Everything” draws a family portrait centered around the mementos and artifacts that make up a person’s life. After nearly 20 years of caring for her elderly parents, Johnson and her brothers begin to deal with the grief and solace of their loss, as well as the selling of their family home and its valued possessions. Johnson joins Piya Chattopadhyay to discuss how she dealt with loss, and the legacy she was left with. Johnson is also the winner of this year’s RBC Taylor Prize for literary non-fiction.
